Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences Enters QS Asian University Rankings for the First Time

Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences (SBMU) has, for the first time, been evaluated in the QS World University Rankings system for Asian universities for 2026. The university achieved 445th place among 1,534 universities across Asia.

In the South Asia subcategory, SBMU was ranked 114th among 486 universities from the region. This places the university among 48 participating institutions from Iran and second among medical universities in the country.

According to the QS Ranking and Accreditation Department, the QS Asian University Rankings use a range of metrics, including: Academic reputation (scientific reputation), Employer reputation, Faculty-to-student ratio, Citations per faculty (research impact), International faculty and student ratios, and international research collaborations

SBMU’s presence in this ranking reflects the university team’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its regional and international standing, as well as its progress in research, science, and global engagement.

On this occasion, Dr. Mortazavi, Vice-Chancellor for International Affairs, commended the faculty, researchers, students, and staff for their persistent dedication and contributions. He also extended special thanks to the team responsible for enhancing the university’s international ranking and global collaborations. Dr. Mortazavi encouraged the university community to continue implementing strategic plans aimed at achieving further advancement in future rankings.
